The Berkana Institute and Meg Wheatley invite you on a Walk Out Walk On Women's Learning Journey to South Africa, November 1-12, 2011, to explore the role that women are playing in recreating community, government, and themselves. This journey promises to be a provocative, inspiring and transformative personal experience as we encounter the promise and paradox of the new South Africa as it continues to strive to become a truly "Rainbow Nation" 17 years on from its first democratic elections. Meg is co-leading this journey with Marianne Knuth, co-founder of Kufunda Learning Village in Zimbabwe. Read more

Teaching and Research Conference
Illinois State University, Normal, IL
June 4-5, 2012
In March of 2010, the Pursuit of Social Wealth commenced in Louisville, Kentucky with a gathering of international scholars who brought discussions of various issues that related to the development of social wealth. One of these matters concerned the development of education settings and preparation of teachers to affect the financial teaching and learning that are needed to develop fiscally responsible citizens.
This call represents an invitation for teachers and researchers to continue the dialogue that commenced at that gathering. Literature well documents the financial illiteracy of American youth, with most reporting that they learn about their finances at home. These conditions breed disparate patterns of financial practice that range from prudent to reckless.
